BLS Certification – The Must Have To Avoid Life Threatening Mistakes

Basic life support was a concept created to help rescuers when there is a need to give CPR. Injuries, accidents, and cardiac attack are common incidents, these days. Professional doctor’s help may not be accessible at a certain place or in specific condition. In that situation, a person with basic life support skill could act wisely and save a life.

Proper assessment is an important step in BLS process. Once the victim has collapsed, the rescuer after calling for help and checking the scene should start tapping the victims shoulder and call his/her name. If there is no response then check the victims pulse and normal breathing, if both are absent then CPR should be started immediately.

Sometimes in the panic situation there is a chance to make a wrong move, which can lead to serious consequences.

The common mistake is that we forget to call for help. In the hurry to save a life we don’t realize our limitation in aid. A medical professional with their better equipment can make a lot difference than our temporary aid.

Another mistake is that we forget to tilt the head back. For a person suffering from cardiac arrest, a regular supply of oxygen is needed. So for proper airflow the head should be tilted.

Stopping the CPR before the arrival of medical help is another common mistake. When the blood doesn’t flow to the brain then the person’s heart beat will be irregular. In that case the CPR should be applied continuously, to maintain the blood flow.

Pressing the CPR too hard or too slow may also create problems. 100 chest compressions per minute should be delivered and more concern should be taken that it is not pressed too hard.

The biggest mistake people make regarding BLS is not getting a certified training. A trained person will always be prepared to provide proper support, avoid mistake and potentially save lives.

While registration sometimes we commit mistake by choosing the incorrect class. We sign up for CPR class instead of BLS class. Important thing that we should be aware is that BLS consists of CPR with additional practices.

Important facts to be remembered by the rescuer:

  • Call for immediate medical help
  • CPR should be pushed hard and fast
  • Compression should be at least 100 per minute
  • Minimize the frequency and duration of interruptions while giving compressions
  • Tilt the head of the person to ensure maximum flow of oxygen in case of cardiac arrest

Proper training will help you to overcome all these shortages. Adopting training from the institution at San Diego will be worthy.

BLS certification San Diego CA provides cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for patients of all ages. This course could be attended by healthcare professionals, training students, and even common man who would like to learn about CPR skills.

Apart from BLS, there are other courses like PALS, ACLS, and NPR available in the institution at San Diego. All these courses are certificate programs.

There might be confusion, while choosing the course. For a healthcare professional all the courses suits and for a common man BLS is the best choice, which may be helpful in future incidents.
