Tips For Writing A Cover Letter For A Job Application

The purpose of a cover letter is to allow you to highlight your knowledge and experiences with direct tie-ins to the requirements listed in a job posting. At least the three most important job requirements should be mentioned with a brief explanation of how you meet the criteria. This will show a potential employer what you can do for them. It is also important that you show interest in the company to which you are applying. Using simple phrases such as “I have always admired your organization” can help show your interest. You may also want to do some research into the company and choose one or two things that peaked you interest to include in the cover letter.

It is also a good idea to mention what a potential employer might be able to for you. This can include an “invaluable learning experince” or a “chance to hone your skills”. Statements like this can show a potential employer that you are looking to learn from them which many employers will rightly take as a compliment. 90% of cover letters are junk, that’s why we’re here to help you avoid being a part of this statistic.

To whom it may concern:

I was happy to learn from a job posting that Company Name has an opening for a Position Applying For. I have always admired your organization, and I’m sending you my resume in the hope that you will consider me for one of these positions.

In your posting you said that you desired people who possessed good problem determination and resolution skills, were flexible and able to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally, and had good communication skills. During my time at the Previous Employer Name, I served as a Position Title. This position called for me to daily do a job requirement you have experience with. I enjoy working in a team, and I am eager to assist you in the capacity that best serves your interest.

While serving as a Position Title, I learned to do an additional job requirement. I also learned how to handle a third job requirement. This experience made me appreciate the importance and responsibilities of the position applying for. I would welcome the opportunity to share my skills and expand my knowledge by working with you.

Please let me know when it would be convenient for us to meet, and I will make myself available. You can reach me at phone number.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
