Summer is just around the corner, finally! Now is the perfect time to get your home in tip-top condition, especially if you missed out on a spring clean. With the warmer weather, it’s nice to open up the doors and windows, put on some music, and get a deep clean done. Not everyone knows where to start when it comes to deep cleaning, however. It can all seem a bit daunting. And many of us really hate cleaning! To help you on your way, here are four areas you should deep clean for summer.
- The Fridge
You’re soon going to be packing the fridge out with lots of yummy fruits, vegetables and meat for the barbecue. It’s important to make sure that your entire fridge is spick and span. Not just the inside! You should be deep cleaning the outside of the fridge, underneath, and behind too. The warm weather can cause fans to go funny in fridges. So, giving it a clean will stop that from happening. Take all of your food out to start. You then want to remove the drawers and shelves to give them a clean. Pull the fridge out to clean the outside, underneath and behind. Finally, clean the inside once more. Including the sides and the door panel. Let it dry, before putting all your food back in.
- The Floors
Your floors are some of the best things to deep clean during the summer. They’ll dry really quick in the heat and look all fresh until winter brings muddy boots back in. You don’t want to be on your hands and knees scrubbing the kitchen floor, however. Look for a tile cleaning company which will do all of the hard work for you. Carpets can be a little trickier, but not impossible. You can hire a carpet cleaner from most DIY stores. Either that or invest in a company who have their own equipment.
- Windows
When the sunshine comes pouring in through the windows, you’ll see all of the dirt and grime that’s been left over winter. This time of the year is where you’ll really see how dirty those windows are! It doesn’t take too long to clean all of the windows in your home though. You can use newspaper and a homemade cleaner to scrub the inside. You can then hire a window cleaner for the outside. Alternatively, buy a long-handled cleaner to do the outsides yourself. Don’t get on a ladder without someone to help, however!
- Wardrobes
Ideally, you should declutter your wardrobe in time for the warmer weather. You won’t be wearing woolly jumpers in a heat wave, will you?! You also should deep clean the insides of your wardrobes and drawers too. So many people forget to do this. Dusty wardrobes can bring in dust mites and moths. Both of which can damage your clothes. Make piles of things to be put aside for winter, things for the summer, and things to get rid of. When all of the clothes are out, give the wardrobe a clean. You can then store the winter clothes, put back the summer clothes, and sell or donate the rest.
These four things may seem simple, but you’ll be surprised at what a difference they can make. Just an hour over the weekend will tick each one of the list. Giving you more time to enjoy the sunny weather.
