Switch Up Your Morning Routine With These Tweaks

Most people love a good morning drink and a scrumptious sandwich at lunchtime. However, it’s easy to get stuck in a rut regarding the preparation process. If you run to the local drive-thru to purchase your morning latte, you only have an idea of what’s in it. The same concept applies if you stop at the local sub shop to purchase your lunch. Instead, consider these fun ways to switch up your routine and enjoy your favorite foods and drinks in different ways.

1. Morning Latte
Instead of driving to the local coffee shop to purchase a vanilla bean latte, make one at home. Purchase fresh vanilla pods or vanilla extract. Add steamed nut milk in a cup along with spices like nutmeg, cinnamon, and cardamom. Add your choice of espresso and honey. The flavors will be incredible and you’ll probably stick with making your own in the future.

2. Green Smoothie
Instead of using a base of milk for your green smoothie, use Chia seed water instead. Add a tablespoon of Chia seeds to a cup of water. Allow the Chia seeds to swell. Chia seeds are amazing because of their nutrient-rich capabilities. Add a handful of spinach, berries and a banana. Add a dash of cinnamon for warmth. If you want to make it a little bit sweeter, you can add some honey or stevia extract.

3. Pita Bread Sandwich
Whether you’re using grilled chicken, a black bean patty or turkey slices, you can easily create a gourmet sandwich with the use of pita bread. Instead of using the standard condiments like ketchup and mustard, use roasted red pepper hummus. Spread the hummus on the inside of the pita bread pocket. Add a few pieces of lettuce and tomatoes. If you like cucumber slices and red onions, they’ll add a lot of depth to the sandwich. Use gourmet spice blends   to create your own condiments as well. You can add spices to an avocado and create an avocado spread. If you must have mayonnaise on your sandwich, take it to the next level. Purchase chipotle adobo peppers that are canned. Take one or two of the peppers out of the jar and cut them up into really small pieces. Mix the peppers with the mayonnaise to create a chipotle mayo spread for your sandwich. You’d be amazed at the flavor found in adding one small ingredient.
